Mateo d’Amato is a New York City–based actor working across film, television, theater, and voiceover. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and raised between Miami, Florida, and Portland, Oregon, where he began acting professionally at Northwest Children’s Theater before moving to NYC.
His career spans both indie and mainstream markets, with appearances on television series including Blue Bloods, Jessica Jones, and Betty, as well as in independent feature films such as Triumph of the Will (Gabriel Nussbaum), The Furies Inside Me (Michael DiPaolo), and Green Brothers (John D’Amico), among others. He has performed in motion capture for 2K and WB Games, appeared in music videos for Metronomy and NZCA Lines, and been featured in national and international campaigns for brands including Budweiser, Verizon, Grubhub, Smirnoff, Applebee’s, American Express and more.
As a voice actor, Mateo works regularly across film and television, with additional credits in podcasts, video games, and animation. He is fluent in Spanish and has been nominated for an Audie Award; his narrations can be heard on Audible and the meditation app Calm.
Well-versed in theater, Mateo has appeared in dozens of Off- and Off-Off-Broadway productions, earning critical praise for several performances, including a New York Times Critic’s Pick for Not About Me, which he also produced. Additional credits include The Shakespeare Conspiracy (Theater Row), Back (The Cell), Judith of Shimoda (La MaMa), Our Town (SITI Company), Burn the End (Tectonic Theater Project), and Mariquitas (Theater for the New City).
He has received ensemble awards for Village Orpheus at The Wild Project and Green Brothers, which premiered at the London Eye International Film Festival.
Mateo holds a B.A. from Eugene Lang College at The New School, studied solo performance at Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany, and has trained with Anthony Abeson, Bob Krakower, Deborah Hedwall, and Fay Simpson. In addition to his acting work, he is a producer and co-founder of Suite 524, a nonprofit theater company dedicated to developing original work and preserving live performance in the age of AI.
